An Associate Professor at the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, a Peace Scholar and a Legal Practitioner, Dr. Ruth Abiola Adimula, fspsp, was a Guest Lecturer at the just concluded Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji Nigeria, held at the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria, for the  International  ANTI-PIRACY COURSE 5/23 of Participants from across West African States. Her well researched lecture on the topic ”CHILDREN IN MARINE PIRACY: CAUSES, CONSEQUENCES AND LEGAL RESPONSES” was described by participants as expository, extensive and widely educative, as it discussed various issues including the overview of United Nations  Convention on the Rights of the Child; Root Causes of Juvenille/Child Piracy; Consequences of Recruiting Children into Piracy;  Treatment/Punishment and Prosecution  of Juvenile Pirates, among others. Interestingly, Dr. Adimula was a Distinguished Guest Lecturer at the National Institute of Security Studies, Abuja Nigeria in 2020 on Piracy in the Gulf of Guinea: Legal Implications for International Trade and Sustainable Development. Also between February and June 2021, she served as a member of Review Committee and Validation team of Piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, a UNDP and Japan Project of Martin Luther Agwai Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji Nigeria. As an expert on Marine Piracy and its security and legal implications, Dr. Adimula  has carved a niche for herself.
