Personal Biography

Dr. Abiola Ruth Adimula (Biola Adimula) obtained her LL.B in 1992 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She was called to the Nigerian Bar (Lagos) in 1993, had her LL.M from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2004 and her Ph.D (Peace and Development Studies)  from University of Ilorin in 2014. She is the Principal Partner of the firm and also a Senior Lecturer at Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. As a Peace Scholar, Dr. Adimula’s research biases are in gender, refugees and IDP studies.

Dr. Adimula is passionate about corporate practice, child rights, human rights, property law and Alternative Disputes Resolution- where she has carved a niche for herself in legal practice. She is a Notary Public, a Chartered Arbitrator, a Chatered Mediator and a Trainer Mediator. She has been a Member of International Bar Association since 1999. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and Life Member, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA). She is a Rotary Peace Fellow (Class 23) Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (2017);  the President of Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni Association, Nigeria; National Publicity Secretary, Society for Peace Studies and  Practice, Nigeria;  Peace Ambassador, Institute for Economics and Peace, Sydney(2018) and  a Member (Assessor) Association of Commonwealth Universities Grant Selection Panel, , London, United Kingdom.

Dr. Adimula served as a Consultant, Senate Committee on Constitutional Review of Federal Republic of Nigeria (2016- 2019); Council Member, International Bar Association, 2010-2012; an Awardee of the International Bar Association,  2008;  served as National Executive Committee and  Council Member in different Committees and Fora of  the Nigerian Bar Association, between 1997 and present;  a Member and Trainee of  Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, 2010. In 2006, she served as a member of the Review Committee of ECOWAS Youth Policy in West Africa; a member of the Review Committee of (Nigeria) National Gender Policy in 2014; and a Consultant to UNICEF on Child Rights, 2005.  She served as the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kwara State   on Women Affairs, between 2013 & 2015 and also as Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kwara State on Women Affairs (2018-2019).

Dr. Adimula was a Faculty/Guest Lecturer in February 2018 at the University of the Incarnate Words, San Antonio, Texas. She was also in Murray State University Kentucky and Trinity University Texas, USA as Guest Lecturer (2018).

Dr. Adimula has presented several notable keynote Papers, including but not limited to the keynote Paper (as Consultant to UNICEF) on domestication of Child Rights Act before the Kwara State House of Assembly in 2005- this led to the passage of Child Rights Law in Kwara State in 2006. She also coordinated two Members of Children’s Parliament in June 2009 to advocate for the establishment of a Family Court in Kwara State and in July 2009, the Kwara State Judiciary established Family Court. In 2012, She nominated two Hon. Magistrates of Kwara State Judiciary for a three-month Commonwealth Fellowship Training in the United Kingdom, on Child Justice Administration and Family Court, through the British Council in Nigeria. On their return, Family Court functional operations commenced in January 2013- today, the Family Court in Kwara State has handled hundreds of children and Family cases.

Dr. Adimula is the Chairperson of Women and Child Watch Initiatives (NGO), through which medium she impacts her community in the area of legal, health, education and social welfare since 2003.

Since Dr. Adimula established the firm in 1995, she has mentored about 100 Law interns and Associates. She served and still serves clients at local, national and international levels on various aspects of the Law and has gained the trust of her clients globally through diligence, commitment to duty and divine assistance.
